How to Apply Visa Extension and Residence Permit in China?

Visa Extension
 
Foreigners entering China with a visa may apply for a visa extension if the original purpose of entry has not expired, or if there are other legitimate reasons that require you to stay beyond the expiration date of the visa without changing the type of visa. The following documents are required for visa extension
(I) Valid passports or other international travel documents;
(II) A completed Foreigner's Visa Application Form and a 33×48 mm color, recent headless photo against a white background (free on-site photography is available);
(III) Supporting documentation of the reason for the visa extension
application;
(IV) Supporting documents for other relevant procedures.

Residence Permit

Foreigners who, after entering China, need to stay in the country's territory for reasons other than diplomatic or official business shall apply for a residence permit and its extension, amendment, or reissuance in person to the exit and entry administrative authorities of China's public security organs to complete the relevant formalities. For foreigners who are highly talented or urgently needed professionals, or who are under the age of 16 or over the age of 60, or who are disabled due to illness or other reasons, the inviting organization/individual, family, or relatives of the applicant, or a specialized service agency may apply on behalf of the applicant. The following documents are required to apply for a residence permit:
(I) Valid passports or other international travel documents; (II) A completed alien visa application form and a 33×48 mm color, bare-headed ID photo taken recently against a white background (free on-site photography is available); (III) Supporting documents regarding the reason for the residence permit application; (IV) Supporting documents regarding other relevant procedures.
