Is an employee entitled to compensation upon the expiration date of employment contract?

Case Description
 
Peter works in Beijing at a local school. He has worked at the school four years. The employment contract between the school and Peter will expire on March 31, 2018.  Peter was informed that the school has decided to not renew the employment contract upon the expiration date. The school told Peter there is no compensation for Peter for such termination.
 
Is Peter entitled to compensation under Labor Law in China?

Under the Chinese Labor Contract Law, Peter is entitled to compensation for the termination of the employment contract, even if the contract says otherwise. The right could not be deprived by the terms of the contract. 
 
The amount of compensation shall be based on the working period Peter has worked for the school. He is entitled to one month salary for each year he worked for the school.
